Task
Develop an experience wall about the area for Landal Stroombroek (holiday resort)
Result
An interactive experience wall
The question
In the central main building there is an information room for visitors next to the reception. Until recently, many brochures from the area could be found here and walls from two municipalities with different styles and appearances. Every year, holiday resort Landal Stroombroek in Braamt (near Doetinchem) receives many visitors and it is important to show them what there is to do in the area. That was the reason for Landal Stroombroek, Achterhoek Tourism Board and the surrounding municipalities to join forces and renovate this space into an inspiring environment for visitors. DestinatieX has been asked to supervise this project.
Our approach
For this project, together with Landal Stroombroek and Achterhoek Tourism, we have mapped out the framework and wishes for the project. We translated this into a briefing for the designer. We then mapped out the content together. A layout has been created via a number of themes that is logical and recognizable for visitors. We supervised the design and realization from start to finish.
The result
The renovated space has a clear Achterhoek appearance, where the nature theme is clearly visible. The columns in the room are covered with a nature print and contain children’s tips. Other themes that are discussed are castles and heritage, routes and seeing & doing. Visiting tips are also given directly across the border.
On a wall about heritage in the region, visitors can touch icons on a large map. When you touch the icon (for example a castle, a Hanseatic city or a monument), tips about the attraction and how you can visit it yourself appear on a screen. Further on, visitors can pull up panels from a corner table and discover what there is to experience in the immediate vicinity of the park. Next to it is an overview of nice routes, so that visitors can explore them on foot, by bike or by mountain bike.
Finally, there is a touchscreen in the room where visitors can search for attractions, museums, restaurants, routes and many other things. The information can be transferred to the mobile phone via a QR code or by downloading the Achterhoek Route App.
The realization of the inspiration point was made possible by a contribution from Achterhoek Tourism Board, the Province of Gelderland and the municipalities of Montferland, Doetinchem and Oude IJsselstreek. The project was supervised by DestinatieX.
